III. CHAPTER  NISSAGGIYA

The Bhikkhu khưu ni have heard those people complain, criticize, decry. The Bhikkhu khưu ni less desire, ... (as above) ..., the nuns complain, criticize, decry that:

-Why the Bhikkhu khưu ni Luc Lu group made the storage of bowls?

-The Bhikkhu khưu, heard the Bhikkhu khưu ni Luc Lu group made the storage of the average bowl, right?

The Buddha World Religion rebuked that:

-The Bhikkhu khưu, why the Bhikkhu khưu ni Lu Professor group made the storage of the bowl? The Bhikkhu khưu, this incident does not bring confidence to those who do not have faith, ... Bhikkhu khưu ni : ... (as above) ... this nuns are " Bhikkhu khưu ni " mentioned in this sense.

Pitcher  means there are two types of bowls: iron bowls and earthen bowls. Pitchers come in three forms: large, medium-sized, small-sized ones. A large bowl  means to hold half of the  āḷhaka  rice, [2]  a quarter of the actual food is equivalent to that portion (rice). A medium-sized bowl  means one  nā nika of  rice, one quarter of the food, corresponds to that portion. Bowl small size  means that contains a  pattha [3]  rice, a quarter of real objects is commensurate with the food (rice) did. Bigger than that is not a bowl, smaller is not a bowl.

[95] The Bhikkhu khưu ni should go to the place of assemblies, cover the upper one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhuni, squat, clap hands, and should say like this:

-  White monks and nuns, this bowl of mine has passed through the night and needs to be discarded. I let this thing go to the congregation.

After discharge, should repent. Crime should be recorded by experienced, qualified bhikkhuni. Empty bowls should be given back.

White devas, please listen to my congregation. This bowl belongs to the Bhikkhu khưu ni name (like this) is an offense on nissaggiya has been discharged to the assemblies. If the time is right for the assemblies, the congregation should return this bowl to the Bhikkhu khưu ni name (like this) . "

[96] The Bhikkhu khưu ni should go to many Bhikkhu khưu ni, covering the upper one shoulder, prostrating at the feet of the eldest Bhikkhu khưu, squat, put your hands up, and should say like this:

-  Venerable nuns, this bowl of mine has passed through the night and needs to be discarded. I let go of this to the great virtues.

After discharge, should repent. Crime should be recorded by experienced, qualified bhikkhuni. Empty bowls should be given back.

Listen to me, great monks. This bowl belongs to the Bhikkhu khưu ni name (like this) is an offense on nissaggiya was discharged to the great virtue ni. If it is the right time for the Venerable Nuns, the Venerable Nuns should give this vase to the Bhikkhu khưu ni (like this). 

[97] The Bhikkhu khưu ni should go to see a Bhikkhu khưu ni, covering the upper one shoulder, squatting, clasping hands, and should say like this:

-  My nun, this bowl of mine overnight has to be discarded. I let go of this to great virtue.

After discharge, should repent. Crime should be recorded by the Bhikkhu khưu ni. The discarded bowl should be given back: " I give back this nun ."

[98] When overnight, aware that overnight,  nissaggiya pācittiya  (discharge of treatment).

When overnight, there was skepticism, nissaggiya pācittiya guilty   (Falcon discharge treatment).

When overnight, (mistakenly) thought not to overnight, guilty  nissaggiya pācittiya  (Falcon discharge treatment).

When you have not paid attention to private use, (mistakenly) thought that you have paid attention to personal use, guilty  nissaggiya pācittiya  (Falcon discharge treatment).

 Hey khưu, Bhikkhu should not give back the bowl was abandoned; nuns who do not give back is guilty of  dukkaṭa  (World).

SESSION BOWL - SECOND LEARNING:

[102] At that time, Buddha World Religion dwell in Sāvatthi, Jetavana, monastery of Anāthapiṇd $ ika. At the time, many Bhikkhu khưu ni, when experiencing the season (settling) of the rain in the country of residence, went to Sāvatthi. The nuns are full of dharma practices, full of majesty, (but) wearing burnt cloth and bad rags. The laity after seeing the Bhikkhu khưu ni (think): " The Bhikkhu khưu ni full of legal practice, full of majesty, (but) wear dumb cloth and bad clothes. The Bhikkhu khưu ni will be ragged "and then offered the medical term to the Bhikkhu khưu ni. Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā has determined that:

The laity complain, criticize, decry that:

[106] at that time, Buddha World Religion dwell in Sāvatthi, Jetavana, monastery of Anāthapiṇd $ ika. At the time, Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā after exchanging y with the Bhikkhu khưu ni and then used. At that time, the Bhikkhu khưu ni had her then folded and set aside. Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā said to this Bhikkhu khưu ni this:

Hey nun, where's the y that I've exchanged with you?

Hey nun, take back your robe. This medicine is mine. Whichever is yours is mine, mine is mine own. Give me this, this guy is mine. Take your medicine.

[108] The woman who has cultivated to the upper rank, realizing that she has cultivated to the upper rank, the nun exchanging medicine and then snatching it back or telling her to recoil, commits the crime of  nissaggiya pācittiya  .

The woman who had cultivated to the upper stage, had the skepticism, the nun exchanged medicine and then snatched it back or said that it was a crime to commit  nissaggiya pācittiya  (the conditional discharge).

The woman who has cultivated to the upper order, (mistakenly) thought that she has not cultivated to the upper step, the nun exchanging medicine and then snatching it back or telling her to recoil, commits the crime of  nissaggiya pācittiya  (Falcon discharge treatment).

Nuns exchange other things and then recoil or recoil, the crime  dukkaṭa  (World).

[110] At that time, Buddha World Religion dwell in Sāvatthi, Jetavana, monastery of Anāthapiṇd $ ika. At the time, Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā was sick. At that time, a certain layman went to see Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā, after coming told Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā this:

- Monks, are you not well? What objects should be brought back?

- Hey friends, I have a need for liquid butter.

After that, the male layman brought a   loose butter kahāpaṇa from the owner of the shop and offered it to the Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā. Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā said like this:

- Hey friends, I have no need for liquid butter. I have a need for cooking oil.

At that time, the male renunciate went to see the owner of the shop, and after he came, he told the owner of this shop:

- Hey, I heard that nuns do not have a need for liquid butter, but a need for cooking oil. Take his liquid butter and give me cooking oil.

- Hey, if we get back the goods that were sold, when will our goods be sold? With the purchase of liquid butter, liquid butter has been carried away. Please bring the purchase of cooking oil and then the oil will be taken away. [6]

At that time, the male layman complained, criticized and decryed:

- Why did the nun Thullanandā ask for something else after asking for something else?

The Bhikkhu khưu ni heard that layman complained, criticized, decry. The Bhikkhu khưu ni less desire, ... (as above) ..., the nuns complain, criticize, decry that:

-Why did the nun Thullanandā request something else after asking for something else?

After asking for something else : after asking for anything.

[113] nuns request more of the character, nuns (receive it already) ask for more things, after showing the benefits and then ask, [7]  nuns are crazy, nuns violate their heads Fairy is innocent.

[114] At that time, the Buddha World Religion dwell in Sāvatthi, Jetavana, monastery of Anāthapiṇd $ ika. At the time, Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā was sick. At that time, a certain layman went to see Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā, after coming told Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā this:

- Bhikshuni, is your health good? Is everything convenient?

- Hey friends, health is not quite. Things are not convenient.

-Mrs , nuns, I will leave at the shop owner of that shop a  kahāpaṇa . If a nun wants something at a store, tell him to bring it.

Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā told nuns to practice that:

Hey nuns, go and bring a  kahāpaāa  of cooking oil from the shop owner's home.

After that, the nun who practiced that brought a  kahāpaṇa  of cooking oil from the shop owner's house and offered it to the Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā. Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā said like this:

- This nun apprentice, I have no need for cooking oil. I have a need for liquid butter.

At that time, the novice nun went to see the owner of the shop, after telling him, the owner of this shop said:

-Dear friends, heard nuns have no need for cooking oil that needs liquid butter. Take his cooking oil and give me butter.

- Teacher, if we get back the goods that were sold, when will our goods be sold? With the purchase of cooking oil, the cooking oil is taken away. The nun brings with him the purchase of liquid butter and the liquid butter will be taken away.

At that time, the nun who was practicing was standing and crying. The Bhikkhu khưu ni told nuns to practice this:

- This nun apprentice, why are you crying?

At that time, the nun who practiced the monk recounted the incident to the bhikkhunis. The Bhikkhu khưu ni less desire, ... (as above) ..., the nuns complain, criticize, decry that:

- Why did the nun Thullanandā say other things are told after shopping for other things?

-The Bhikkhu khưu, why Bhikkhu khưu ni Thullanandā after telling other things to shop for other things? The Bhikkhu khưu, this incident does not bring confidence to those who do not have faith, ... And the Bhikkhu khưu, the Bhikkhu khưu ni please disseminate this learning like this: "Any Bhikkhu khưu ni after buying other objects and shopping other objects,  then (other things) should be discharged and (nuns) guilty pācittiya (Falcon treatment).

After shopping for other things : after shopping for anything.

Say other things : nuns say other things except that. When started, guilty  dukkaṭa  (World). Because the attainment is committed on  nissaggiya , should be discharged to the congregation, or to the group, or to a Bhikkhu khưu ni. And what, bhikkhus, should be let go, saying ... [118] At that time, Buddha World Religion dwell in Sāvatthi, Jetavana, monastery of Anāthapiṇd $ ika. At that time, the laity, after gathering voluntarily (for merit), for the medical needs of the bhikkhuni congregation, left the possessions at the merchant's house and went to meet the monks. khưu ni and said this:

- Monks, the material part for medical needs has been left at the cloth merchant's house. From there, the nuns told him to bring him and then share.

With the material, the Bhikkhu khưu ni has purchased pharmaceutical products for themselves and then use. The laity know then complain, criticize, decry that:

[146] Bach Chu great virtue ni, thirty things  nissaggiya pācittiya  (Falcon discharge treatment) [9]  has been recited. Among these things, I asked the great monks and nuns, "Surely you are pure in this matter?"

The second time, I asked: Surely you are pure in this matter?

To the third time, I asked: Surely you are pure in this matter?

The great virtue is pure new silent. I acknowledge this is so.

[1] Nissaggiya pācittiya  has two parts:  nissaggiya  related items should be discharged,  pācittiya  is guilty of treatment. This phrase has been interpreted by the seniors as "a sin of confession ." When the two words come together, we will write as " crime of unpopularity ," and in case of separate analysis, they will be written as above. 

[2] Aḍḍhāḷhakodanaṃ  =  Aḍḍha-āḷhaka-odanaṃ . Aḍḍha  is half,  āḷhaka  is a measure of volume,  odanaṃ  is cooked rice. Mahāsamaṇa Chao said that " rice is cooked from ½ āḷhaka rice " and is in accordance with Buddhaghosa's explanation. Just like Vietnamese people, we often say that eating 1 can of 1 can eat 1 can of rice, not 1 can of rice. Meanwhile, translator IB Horner understood: "the amount of rice is ½ āḷhaka " according to the grammar. 

[3]  According to Mahāsamaṇa Chao explained in  Vinayamukha  , 1  āḷhaka  = 4  nāḷi  ( nāḷika ?) = 8  pattha  (1  nāli  = 2  pattha ). Pattha  is the container that is held by both hands. When using the amount of ½  āḷhaka , 1  nāli , 1  pattha of  rice and then cooked into rice, the amount of rice is the capacity of the three types of bowls mentioned above.

[4]  Six types of y: flax (khomaṃ), cotton (kappāsikaṃ), silk (koseyyaṃ), wool (kambalaṃ), rudimentary (sāṇam) , and only dad (bhaṅgaṃ).
